The first issue of Westfield Wags is a personal one. Quigley came into my family through Space Coast Frenchie Rescue in Palm Bay, Florida, a rescue my sister Mae found almost by accident while researching Frenchies online. She already had one blind Frenchie at home, Schnurby, and wanted to give him a friend, ideally another special needs pup who needed the right person as much as she needed him. The moment the rescue sent his photo, that was it. She knew about him in December 2025 and counted down the days until he could officially join the family.
Quigley was a breeder surrender, and thanks to incredible care from his foster mom, Sam, he came into his new home already set up for success. Since then, he’s done nothing short of thrive. He’s gone from a four-pound puppy to a smart, happy, thoroughly spoiled good boy, and along the way he’s become something of a local celebrity. He’s a regular at Crate Escapes with his cousin Crimson, gets a weekly pup cup at 7Brew with his brother Schnurby, and recently discovered a serious love of carrots, courtesy of his grandpaw. He also, apparently, thinks his Aunt Amanda has the best treats in town. (No comment.)
Quigley recently had brachycephalic and neuter surgery, and Dr. Martin and the team at VSx Indianapolis did an amazing job. He’s recovering beautifully and will be back to his favorite adventures very soon.
And then there’s Schnurby. When my sister drove to Florida to bring Quigley home, she brought Schnurby along for the ride, both for company and so the two of them could meet before making it official. Since neither dog can see, she wasn’t sure what to expect. What she got was a bond: Schnurby has helped teach Quigley how to share toys, navigate the yard, and, of course, how to work the room for treats.
Two blind brothers, one very lucky family, and a whole lot of love.
